Started Advanced Game Characters today, whoo! So far so good. This is just the blockout stage, but I think he's coming along nicely so far. This is Basael, or "Bass" for short, and some of you might recognize him from my gallery uploads. I'll keep posting more updates as I go along, but not much to say for this guy so far. We were given a base mesh to work off of, just a simple zsphere creation, but I had to mod mine quite a bit to make him fit my reference. There's lots of little details in his design that'll come later, but for now we're just blocking out the big shapes. The collars were tricky, but worth it, I think! We'll see how I feel when it's all done, though, haha. Anyway, I also put up my reference sheet for those curious. Wish me luck and happy October!

Work in progress playblast of my first animation from GAN. This is supposed to be a loopable animation that feeds into an attack and a death animation. It's still rough and needs work, but I'll get some feedback from our critique day tomorrow and tweak it then. For now, I think it's pretty decent for a few hours worth of work! I'll post more soon. I'm starting AGC (Advanced Game Characters) today, so I'll be focusing on that until then. Hopefully we'll do some work today and I'll have stuff to show for it before tomorrow as well. Finally finished season 2 of The Legend of Korra, and while I have mixed feelings about it as a whole, I still love the show and the characters. Going to start season 3 soon before my next class starts! I felt inspired by it as I usually do, though, so here's a quick doodle of my character Neil as a waterbender. I'm considering doing the Inktober challenge come October, since it's my favorite month. If so, I'll post my daily works here, of course.
I realized that I forgot to submit this! I made some changes to the timing and the end of it. I'm still not entirely pleased with it, but it works for now. I'll continue to refine it if I have time, but otherwise it was just for fun and I enjoyed it. After finishing up my work in LVL (I'll get the video up soon!) I decided to work on a separate project for myself. This one is a church that I'm basing off a handful of different references, but mostly a St Giles church I found a nice HDR image of on Deviantart. I've finished my blockin and have begun the second pass on the models. It looks a little odd right now because of the lack of textures, but so far so good! I had trouble at first since I'm not used to this specific of hard-surface modeling, but it's coming along. Learning a lot already. These shots were taken at various stages of completion~ More soon!
Very rough, obviously, but here's a little animation test for D I'm working on for those who wanted to see the progress so far. Well, while I was waiting for my lighting to build in UDK for our level, I decided to doodle to pass the time. I've been watching a lot of Gravity Falls recently so I thought I'd try my hand at doodling in a similar style, and so far I've had an absolute blast with it. These are characters from a story a friend of mine (Rachel Ray; AKA: Coco) are writing out in our spare time.
Some of the poses are a little wonky and repetitive, but I really just wanted to focus on personality and proportion for these laid-back sketches. I think they came out really nice~ The two characters at the bottom (dreds and the warrior) are random and not related to the story. Let me know what you guys think! Work in progress shots of our level! Did a bit of staging today with our assets to try and get the right feel for it. Had to be kind of creative in certain areas to break up the whole "ROOM OF TREES" repetition and I feel pretty pleased so far. I'll be tackling the rest of it tomorrow for the midnight turn in. So far all of the rooms have been started but I only have two officially done. Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it!
Just creating some alphas for our level to input tomorrow. They're all broken up into different pieces so that we can use them modularly, and I set up an example using the Amphitheater that I think I'll end up actually putting into the level.
I took a walk to get some fresh air today and took some photos around my house that inspired me for our level. These pictures are way too leafy for what we're going for (and I'm no photographer so they're pretty awful) , but I liked certain elements and I think they'll be useful to keep in mind. |
